The Princess Saves Herself In This One – Amanda Lovelace

the princess saves herself in this one goodreads cover“Ah, life- the thing that happens to us while we’re off somewhere else blowing on dandelions & wishing ourselves into the pages of our favorite fairy tales.”

A poetry collection divided into four different parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, & you. the princess, the damsel, & the queen piece together the life of the author in three stages, while you serves as a note to the reader & all of humankind. Explores life & all of its love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, & inspirations.

This is a stunning book that should be read by everyone who is needing to heal from something, no matter what.

This book is incredibly feminist and I feel honoured to have been able to read it. It is so empowering and honestly, quite life changing. It’s a nice quick read that can be picked up whenever I need to be reminded of all the good things in life.

It is a tale of learning to love yourself and to not bow down before anyone. The last poem is just so lovely and it really says how much love the writer has for everyone and herself. The most important person is yourself and that message really comes across.

I felt such a connection to this book that I don’t know how to put it into words. So I am going to cut it short. 5/5 stars, obviously and has been added to my all time favourites list. Please read it if you get a chance, even if you don’t think you need to heal from anything. It will give you an insight into something bigger than yourself. You won’t regret it.
